The King of Buffalo Carp
Mr. Tony C. Crawford
Tony Crawford was born August 13, 1958 as a child he loved to fish this inspiration came from his father the late Calvin Crawford. Tony has two children and five grandchildren. Tony and Calvin started running pay lakes/carp lakes in Shelby NC at Old Putnams lake in 1976 and later Tony, in 1987 came to run Prestwood Lake in Lenoir N.C. Where he met his wife Marcy Crawford granddaughter of Emily Prestwood owner of Prestwood Lake. After leasing Prestwood Lake he was so successful he purchased his own lake in Blacksburg S.C. In 2002 he sold Blacksburg Lake and bought Old Sellers Lake in Kings Mountain N.C. Tony’s hometown. In the process of leasing, selling and buying Mr. Crawford caught the state record buffalo carp on December 1, 1991 weighing a whopping 61.2. From there Mr. Crawford caught the world record November 14, 1993 this fish weighed 88lbs even. Both fish were caught in Lake Wylie. So when we say the home of the world record we are not kidding. In my opinion Mr. Crawford is the king of carp and the world record still has not been broken. His brother Keith Crawford owns and runs Midway Lake I off HWY 74 in Kings Mountain, N.C. The lakes are managed by both brothers. The lakes are a place for families. The Christian values of both men show, neither brother allows any drugs or alcohol of any kind on the premises. They are members of Christian Freedom Baptist Church in Kings Mountain N.C.
